Privacy policy — Inventory Tracker by ARS

Last updated:

Applies to: Inventory Tracker by ARS, version 1.0 and later, distributed through the Microsoft Store.

The short version

Inventory Tracker by ARS runs entirely on your computer. It does not have a server, an account, or a sign-in. It does not send your data anywhere, and it does not collect analytics, telemetry or crash reports. Everything you type stays in files you can see and back up.

What the app stores, and where

DataWhere it is storedWhy
Your business details, products, stock movements, customers, invoices, payments and settings%APPDATA%\InventoryTrackerbyARS\inventory.dbThe app’s only working copy of your books — a database file on your computer.
Automatic and manual backupsDocuments\Inventory Tracker Backups by ARSSo a lost or damaged computer does not mean lost books. You can change the folder.
A diagnostic log%APPDATA%\InventoryTrackerbyARS\logs\app.logSo support can explain a failure. It records the app’s own events: startup, backup, import, licence and error messages, plus the file paths it uses — which contain your Windows username. It is never uploaded. Rotated and capped at 2 MiB × 4.

The app does not store data anywhere else, and it creates no account.

What the app does not collect or send

  • No analytics, telemetry, usage statistics or crash reporting.
  • No advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs and no tracking libraries.
  • No cloud sync, no remote accounts, no invoices emailed by the app.
  • No network access for your business data. The app’s only network use is the Store licence check described below.

Microsoft Store licence

The app is sold through the Microsoft Store, optionally with a trial. To know whether this copy is a trial, a full licence, or simply unpackaged, the app asks the Microsoft Store for the licence of this package on your computer. That request is answered by Windows and the Store’s locally cached licence; it sends the app’s package identity to Microsoft as part of the normal Store service, under Microsoft’s Privacy Statement. The app itself receives only three things: whether a licence is active, whether it is a trial, and (for a trial) its end date.

If the Store cannot answer — for example on a development build or after an offline period — the app says so in Settings → About and continues to work. No feature is ever withheld, and the app never contacts us or anyone else about your licence.

Payments and purchases

Purchases, trials and refunds are handled by the Microsoft Store. We never see or store your payment details. Contact the Store for a refund; contact us for anything about the app itself.

Your control over your data

  • See it: Settings → About opens the data folder; Settings → Data & Backup opens the backup folder.
  • Copy it: Settings → Data & Backup exports products, customers, invoices and stock movements as CSV, or everything as one JSON file.
  • Delete it: Settings → Demo & Reset → Reset to empty deletes every record. Removing the app leaves the data folder on your computer (see below), so delete the folder yourself if you want every trace gone.
  • Uninstalling the app removes the app. In our testing on current Windows builds the data folder survived uninstall, but Windows makes no promise to keep app data, so keep a backup in Documents before removing the app.

Children

The app is a business tool, not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone of any age.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever introduced a feature that sends data anywhere, this policy and the Store listing would be updated before that version was released. The date at the top shows the last change.
